Despite the very strong winds and rain, the Club promotional display went ahead at the Ringwood Meeting House on Friday.
A HUGE thank you goes out to Debbie, who organised the event, Audrey Merrington, Sue Wyatt, Jenny Blake, Helen Blackiston, Dave Lewis and Denis Newham for the work they put in promoting the Ringwood Bowls Club’s Bowls' Big Weekend Open Days.
Debbie reports, 'The weather was grim! Wind, rain and cold and yet each of the above gave a full 2 hours in the clubs name. As you would expect there were fewer people around and those that were rushed by to get out of the weather. However, we managed to get 2 confirmed bookings and a dozen interested in coming on one of the Open Days with a further few who want to come along at a later date.'
Today's Results
Bowls England Men's Top Club versus New Milton. The rain held off this morning for the early start at Ringwood. Sadly, it's New Milton who go through to the next round, winning one of the two singles matches, the triples and the fours on an extra end. Final score 2 - 3.
Bowls Hampshire Ladies' Thornberry Cup versus Southbourne. The Ladies were not so lucky with the weather in Ringwood. The rain came in during the proceedings and in a very close match were pipped at the post by just 4 shots. Rinks 0.5 - 1.5. Shots 35 - 39.

Last week the Men's Leagues got underway with the 1st team travelling to Lymington, returning home with their first win of the season.
The start to the Ladies, NFWBA, League has been delayed and will now start on the 18th May. This is due to some teams withdrawing from the league which has lead to a restructure of the league, resuting in 3 sections instead of 4. As many clubs were struggling to field two teams, Ringwood have combined with Brockenhurst to field a joint team in the 'C' League. Ringwood and Brockenhurst will each send a Triple to Away Matches and will play as one Team. For Home Matches each Triple will stay at their respective Clubs and the opponents will be asked to send one Triple to Ringwood and one to Brockenhurst.
The NFWBA League Secretary, Sandy Elder, said. 'With flexibility and good will I am sure you can make this work and we will be allowing as many Bowlers as possible to play in this most unusual year.'
As Broadstone Wessex and Richmond Park have withdrawn teams from the B&DBA Triples leagues, there are no matches this coming week for our 1st and B teams.

It is with great sadness that I have to report that we have lost another well loved member of our club.
Bryan Tanner passed away on Saturday 23rd January after having been admitted to hospital, sometime earlier, having contracted Covid-19.
Our deep condolences, thoughts and best wishes go out to Bryan's wife Sandra, their family and friends.
Bryan joined Ringwood Bowling Club in 2017 having been a stalwart member of Verwood bowling club for many years. He had a great impact playing for Ringwood in both the Bournemouth and New Forest leagues, Ringwood competitions and representative matches.
He will be sorely missed by our members and also those of Verwood Bowling Club.
I will post details of funeral arrangements when known.
