Barry Vaughan's Report on today's Fun Day with Town Councillors and Rugby Club Members.
On a beautiful and sunny afternoon approximately 30 bowlers and friends visited the Club.
Before the start of afternoon the spider challenge was tried by all which resulted in Doug being named winner.
After that 4 rinks of triples were bowled with tuition being offered as necessary to the visitors. It was very apparent that some of the visitors had bowled before and were of very good standards.
After 8 ends all retired to the Clubhouse to a superb buffet which included everything from hot dogs to eccle cakes and victoria sponge.
The bar did excellent service and Debbie and Frank set up and ran a very successful raffle resulting in £50 profit for the Club.
Amongst the guests from the Council included the Lady Mayoress who expressed her delight and enjoyment of the afternoon.
Various members of the Rugby Club have asked to continue the link and the wish to bring teams to bowl at RBC.

It was also good to see Roy Tutt as a visitor to watch the fun.
An outstanding success thanks to the efforts of a great team of bowlers and helpers.

You will have noticed that the installation of the Solar Panels, at the clubhouse, has now been completed. The system is up and running and with all this lovely sun is working overtime generating electricity for us and sending back to the grid.
Post installation documents have been sent to the Distribution Network Operator and they will be forwarded to us, following their approval.
Also, the data-logger, which will allow us to monitor the electricity generation and usage, is expected to be installed on Monday 24th June.
I'm sure you will join me in thanking Barry Vaughan for all the hard work he has done to facilitate this venture which will improve and eventually save money for the club.

PAT testing in the clubhouse will also be taking place on Monday morning, 24th June, which should not be too disruptive.

The installation of Solar Panels at the clubhouse will be undertaken on the 29th May and will involve the partial closure of the Car Park, for contractor vehicles, and some disruption inside the Clubhouse as the electricity will have to be turned off, for a short period, during the day.
There are no restrictions on the use of the green during the installation apart from the Car Park.
Ringwood Town Councillors debated the Club solar panel installation proposal at a meeting on the 22nd May. They were 'bowled' over (their words not Barry's) by the idea and there was a unanimous acceptance for the work to go ahead.
The Club proposed that should the Council wish to promote a green agenda to promote Ringwood, photos of the Club were welcome , with the understanding that this would also help promote the Club.
The 16 panels will produce a maximum of 9 kW/h and the Club will have a battery storage system capable of holding 5,2kW. The battery will be installed clear of the west escape door. It is anticipated that the system will pay for itself over the next 6/7 years.

This weeks 50/50 Club winner is Bill Pentelow, number 17. Well done Bill.

Sadly, the game on the 31st May, against the Timber Trundlers, has been cancelled as they wanted a full six rink game and we were unable to accommodate that for various reasons.

Fordingbridge Bowling Club have recently had 8 solar panels installed on their clubhouse roof.
Barry Vaughan, having spoken to some of their members, noted that the cost of the installation at Fordingbridge is similar to what Ringwood BC we will be paying. However, in our case we will have a battery storage system and 16 solar panels for the same price.
The Council meeting to approve the work, at our club, will take place at the Forest Suite on Wednesday 22nd May at 7pm, for any members who wish to attend. The Ringwood Town Clerk has recommended acceptance of the proposal.

Somebody 'accidentally' took Barry Vaughan's bowls jumper from the rails, at the end of rink 2, on Saturday. That person is forgiven if they return it.

The 50/50 Club was drawn by a member of Milford on Sea club and the lucky winner is Peter Smith, number 13. Well done Peter, see you at the Bar.

We had a very successful first session with 8 students from Ringwood School on Wednesday and one of the students already shows great promise.
We are expecting 10 students from next week onwards and would welcome some more helpers/trainers at the sessions.
If you are able to help, please contact Barry Vaughan on 07714 299194 for more details.
These School sessions also bring parents into the Club, when they collect the students, which is a great way of getting interest locally.

The NFBA Men's 1st  and 'B' teams got away to flying starts, just like the previous Thursday's Ladies team.
Unfortunately, the Thursday Ladies and Men's 'A' team matches were called off due to the wet weather.
Saturday's B&DBA teams were not as successful, with only the'A' team coming home with a win. See below for all the match details.

The Open Days, held over the weekend, went reasonably well considering the cold and at times, somewhat, wet weather. The conditions probably kept the number of visitors down with only nine visitors on the Saturday and half a dozen on Sunday. A big thank you to Debbie Senior, Chris Dalrymple and all the members who turned up, over the weekend, to help out.

The first League match of the season saw the Ringwood Ladies return from Moordown with a solid and convincing victory. The result is notable as one rink was won with no shots scored against Ringwood. See below for more details.

This weeks 50/50 Club winner drawn by Anne, one of our visitors on Saturday's Open Day, is number 37, John Stone. Well done again John.

Peter Smith has announced that we now have a SumUp Card Reader. You can now pay for your drinks etc., from the bar, using Credit Cards, Debit Cards and Mobile Apps as well as good old Cash.

Please note that some of the Ladies NFWBA League fixtures listed in this years Club Handbook are incorrect. Revised fixtures were advised after going to print. The NFWBA fixtures on the Club Website Calendar will be corrected soon.
